At just 13 years old, Kyran Wadhwa is already rewriting what's possible. A student at Leona Libby Middle School in Washington, Kyran taught himself to code in Python and JavaScript — not for a grade, but because he wanted to build things that matter. That same drive led him to work shoulder-to-shoulder with the teams at Cardinal Robotics and Cardinal Robot Services, contributing to real engineering efforts most adults never get near. But his most ambitious project is Retrain USA. Seeing that thousands of veterans were leaving military service without a clear path forward, Kyran didn't just feel for them — he did something about it. He founded a nonprofit to connect those veterans with careers in one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. Kyran is proof that age is no barrier to vision, and that the next generation of leaders isn't waiting its turn.
Retrain USA was established in response to a critical challenge facing our nation: hundreds of thousands of veterans face unemployment or underemployment after transitioning from military service. We recognized an opportunity to address this challenge while simultaneously meeting the growing demand for skilled robotics technicians across American industries. Our mission is to provide comprehensive training that transforms veterans into highly qualified robotics professionals, equipping them with the expertise to repair, assemble, program, and deploy advanced robotic systems. Through strategic partnerships with leading robotics companies, including Cardinal Robotics and Cardinal Robot Services, we facilitate direct pathways to meaningful employment. We are committed to our ambitious goal of employing over 100,000 veterans nationwide, honoring their service by investing in their future.
Anand is the Co-Founder of Retrain USA and Founder of Cardinal Robotics. Drawing on his research background in advanced sensor systems at Stanford University's XLab, he is building the technical curriculum and industry partnerships that will equip veterans with hands-on robotics skills. Anand's vision is to bridge the gap between cutting-edge automation technology and the disciplined, mission-ready talent that veterans bring to the workforce.
